I Heart San Diego

We went to San Diego 3 weeks ago and loved it! Besides the weather being amazing, we got real lucky with my hotel pick. We stayed on Shelter Island & were pleasantly surprised. I especially liked how it had an out-of-the-way, layed back feel. It's a real narrow strip of an island, so on one side we saw a harbor with tons of private boats & yachts. The other side was water view facing Coronado, so more boats, some large vessels, and a 3 minute walk to a small beach.

We were only there 3 days, but we managed to: go to Sea World, eat the best mexican food in Old Town, rent a funky family bike at Coronado, & make 1 sand castle at the beach. Turns out Ethan & Steve share the same opinion of the beach: they like it, except for the sand :) The family's absolute favorite moment was at Sea World, where we had a cool viewing of "Shamu".

We were the only ones at the underwater viewing tank, so it was neat to just stand back & take it all in. The whale seemed like it wanted to play with us! It did a few laps, then would come right where we were standing, put his nose to the glass, do a few spins, then a few laps again. The kids were amazed, & had a blast running with him. Sarina said he was "beautiful", & Ethan just squealed, & I knew that weekend was one of those unforgettable trips.

We had lots of fun too spending some time with our siblings, & of course the kids love their cousins! Tina & Leonel came down one day, then Marina & Brian and Tiff & Alex came down another. Joe & Ethan were cracking us up with their new favorite word: "MINE!" They would just shout it over & over again, 'fighting' over anything & nothing. Seriously they were fighting over one of Steve's freckles. Yes a freckle. These boys! Good thing they're so dang cute :)

Steve says: (in a very silly & sarcastic tone....) "Believe!"
